Granular synth

A worklet-backed grain cloud that re-samples short windows of audio and clouds them in real time. Drop a sample (or use one of the built-in source loops) and morph between rhythmic pulse, frozen texture, and pitch-shifted reversal — all from the same UI.

Knobs

  • Source — pick a sample or use the live track audio (the granular synth can chew up other tracks in real time).
  • Grain size — 5–500 ms per grain; small = pulse-like, large = pad-like.
  • Density — grains per second. Low = sparse rhythmic clicks; high = thick texture.
  • Position / Position jitter — where in the source the grains pull from, and how randomly that position wobbles.
  • Pitch / Pitch jitter — semitones up/down per grain, with random spread.
  • Reverse probability — chance each grain plays backwards.
  • Freeze — locks the playhead so position stops advancing through the source. Combine with high pitch jitter for cloud pads.
TipSet Source = another track + Density 25 + Pitch jitter 7 + Reverse probability 0.3 to live-rechew whatever the kick / snare are doing into a glitchy texture stem.
