Ableton Link

On the grid with the rest of the room.

Turn Link on and Sonyk shares tempo and downbeat with Ableton Live, Loopy Pro, AUM, Koala, Drambo — anything on the network that speaks Link. Starts are quantized, so a pattern always lands on the session’s 1.

What you get

Tempo and phase

Change the tempo anywhere and everyone follows; bar phase stays aligned across the session.

Start/stop sync

Optional — a peer can start or stop the transport, or you can keep Sonyk’s transport your own.

Both decks

In DJ mode the decks follow the Link grid, so a record drops on the 1 of Live’s arrangement.

Together and Remote

Link owns the clock; Sonyk’s own sessions send the notes. Turn Link off for internet sessions.

Set it up

  1. Put the devices on the same Wi-Fi (or a direct hotspot).
  2. In Sonyk: Settings → LINK. The peer count appears when a session is found.
  3. In Live: Preferences → Link/Tempo/MIDI → Show Link toggle → Link on.
  4. Press play anywhere — Sonyk waits for the next bar and lands on the 1.

Questions

Does Link work over the internet?

No — Link is local-network only, by design. For remote collaboration use Sonyk Together (Pro).

Which platforms?

iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. The browser app does not support Link (browsers cannot join the multicast session).
