Patterns

A pattern is a self-contained snapshot of every track's steps + tempo + swing. There are 16 slots arranged in a 4×4 grid in the left rail, named A1–D4. The active slot is the one currently editable in the step grid.

Creating & switching

  • Click an empty slot — creates a new blank pattern there.
  • Click a filled slot while stopped — instantly switches to it.
  • Click a filled slot while playing in Scene mode — queues it for the next bar boundary. The slot pulses amber until it takes over.
  • ⌃/⌘/⇧-click a filled slot — opens the context menu (rename, duplicate, delete, copy/paste).
  • Alt-drag a filled slot onto an empty one — duplicates it. Watch for the green highlight on a valid drop target.

Pattern bank slots at a glance

  • A1 Cyan border + tint = currently active / playing
  • B2 Pulsing amber = queued (will take over at next bar)
  • C3 Filled but inactive
  • D4 Empty
NotePatterns share the same track list across the project — adding a track in one pattern adds it (empty by default) in every other pattern too. Step contents, tempo, and swing are per-pattern.
