The pattern
It is a straight 16th-note pulse on one note with the octave popping up on the off-beats — the tension comes from what does not change. Set the track length to 16, fill every step, then raise the pitch by 12 on steps 4, 8, 12 and 16 in the step inspector.
The sound
A fast decay, no glide, a slightly open filter with a touch of resonance, and a hair of overdrive. The 303 model works, but the Analog Poly with a square wave and a short amp envelope is closer to the original’s Moog.
Make it yours
Change the key chip and everything follows. Roll the composer dice for a counter-melody in the same key, or DJ the pattern against the record on deck B — same clock.
