Groovebox

A groovebox that thinks in bars, not menus.

Sixteen steps, a page of knobs, and instruments that can actually scream. Sonyk’s sequencer is built for house, techno, trance and tribal — swing, ratchets, per-step pitch, velocity and micro-timing on every track.

The instruments

All synthesized in the app, all with saveable presets that sync across your devices.

Acid bass (303)

A component-level TB-303 model: it self-oscillates at high cutoff and resonance, slides and accents are per-step features of the sequencer.

Analog poly

Hybrid wavetable/analog: 14 wavetables, unison and supersaw, LFO and mod envelope, four filter types, 40+ curated presets.

Wavetable, FM, granular

A drawable wavetable synth, a four-operator FM synth, and a granular synth that re-chews live audio.

Drums and hand drums

A full synthesized kit you can reshape, plus a Hand Drum synth with conga, bongo, darbuka and frame-drum articulations.

Multisampler

A 16-pad bank: load, record, chop. Any loop becomes pads, tempo-matched.

Semi-modular

Ten modules and a real patch bay — per-sample CV, cycles, summed inputs.

Sequencing that generates

Dice that write starters

An empty pattern rolls a real starter for that instrument — a house or drum-and-bass kick, hats that swing, an acid line with its slides.

Trig conditions and polymeter

Per-track step lengths, conditional trigs, euclidean rhythms, live tap and step recording.

Named-master generators

Composer dice that generate style-authentic harmony and voice leading, morphed by range, density and variation — never a quote.

Song mode

Chain patterns into songs with free MIDI and audio lanes and automation; record sections, mutes and knob moves as passes.

Questions

Is there a free version of the groovebox?

Yes — every instrument is free, on every platform, with up to 10 tracks and 3 songs saved on your device. Studio (one-time) makes local saves unlimited; Pro adds cloud sync.

Does it work on iPhone as well as iPad?

Yes. The layout is tuned per device and every control works with touch, mouse, keyboard and MIDI.

Can I use my own samples?

Import or record your own sounds into the sampler and the 16-pad multisampler; the drum kit is synthesized and editable.
